Dungeon of darkness β¬›

Just when you think things are going right,

Something unexpected and devastating hits you,

And suddenly everything is as dark as night.

No air to breathe and no sight to view.

You’re plunged into a dungeon of hopelessness,

From where it feels impossible to come out,

The harder you try, the more you feel helpless.

Scream and cry as much, there’s no way of breaking out.

Engulfed in darkness,

Plummeting to an abyss of despair,

Feelings going numb, upto the point of inertness,

Paranoia permeating every cell in your body, leaving you gasping for air.

The happy memories of the past are now distant and a blur,

The chances of them returning in the future seems bleak,

The voice in your head says ‘Keep going’ but they slur,

Your body paralyzed with fear, too numb, too weak.

What do you do in such a situation?

How do you get out of this mess?

Will you ever get to see the rays of sunshine outside this dungeon?

Or will this be your permanent home now, this dungeon of darkness??

Have you guys ever felt like this at some point in time or the other? What do you do? How do you push yourself to get out of this dark space and motivate yourself to be positive and never let go of the optimism? Do share in the comments. Am sure it will be helpful to many, including ME….hope you all are doing well…stay healthy and be happy friendsπŸ’ŸπŸ’Ÿ

SHE

SHE πŸ’“

She is delicate, she is beautiful,

She is responsible, she is dutiful,

She is emotional, she is intelligent.

She is hard working, she is diligent.

She is brave, she is savage,

She is extraordinary, and above average.

She is fearless, she is bold,

She is beautiful, when young and even when old.

She is thoughtful, she is compassionate,

She is tough, but also delicate.

She loves one, she loves all,

In the face of all adversities, she stands tall.

She nurtures, she protects,

She guides, she educates.

She gives without asking and loves with all her heart.

Her ability to love unconditionally is nothing less than art.

She is a mother, she is a sister,

She is a wife, a friend or a daughter.

In a lifetime, she dons so many roles,

She aces each one with heart and soul.

But above all, she is a Woman.

A person of substance, integrity, one who constantly tries to be a good human.

The epitome of beauty, grace and poise.

So celebrate her everyday, c’mon let me hear you make some noise!!!

All I am saying is that we women are fabulous and we should be celebrated not just on Women’s day but every day…and if no one shows up, let’s take a pledge to celebrate ourselves. Each day. And every day. πŸ’–πŸ’– Do you agree? Let me know in the comments. Keep it sassy ladies 😎😎

Every one has a story to tell πŸ“’

Everyone has a story to tell,

Of the hardships they faced and the obstacles they overcame,

Of the times they triumphed and the times they failed.

Of the times they were misunderstood and took on the blame and the shame.

Everyone has a story to tell,

Experiences that have changed them in some ways.

Either pushed them in their cocoons or made them a rebel.

But who are you to judge, who are you to say?

Everyone has a story to tell,

Of the trials and tribulations that made them who they are,

Each have embarked on their own journeys of discovering what’s their heaven and hell.

They maybe different than you, but doesn’t give you the right to call them bizzare.

Everyone has a story to tell,

Of the person they once were and the one they are now,

Bid your age old notions and pre conceived judgements farewell,

Instead try to appreciate all they have endured and how.

If you really want to know,

Get to know their stories, get to know who they really are,

Don’t demean, don’t discriminate, don’t judge and stoop so low.

Be kind, be understanding, be their hero, be their superstar!!

We are often so quick to judge. Whenever we come across anyone a bit different than us, immediately, and probably subconsciously, we form an opinion about them. It could be hatred, dislike, or even pity. Frankly, none of that is acceptable. All we have to do is get to know them as people, listen to their stories, learn from their life lessons, get inspired by their journey and their resilience towards all challenges, learn to empathise and not sympathize and finally to wholeheartedly accept people as they are. We just have to train our mind to be less judgemental and to be more open, more thoughtful, more compassionate. It’s not that difficult. Do let me know your thoughts on this. πŸ˜ŠπŸ’–πŸ’–

Set The Inner Child Free πŸ€©

As a kid, I couldn’t wait to grow up,

To become my own master, act all grownup.

Adulting seemed like such a fantastic thing,

Now, it’s the childhood memories to which I cling.

I thought being an adult was so cool,

Now in hindsight, I can say I was but a fool.

I couldn’t wait to be done with books and studies,

Get a job and chill with my buddies.

But now I know, working long hours with a nagging boss ain’t no joke,

Irony is, no matter how much I earn, I am still broke.

And friends? The numbers gradually deplete,

Only a handful remember the birthdays and take out time to meet.

I yearned the freedom to take my own decisions,

To fulfil my ambition and chase after my passions.

Oh! The joy of earning my own money,

To find true love and call him honey!

But today, the many passions are left far behind,

Incessant meetings and work calls keep me confined.

Loving people left me hurt and broken,

Had so much to say, but all remains unspoken.

Now, looking back, I cannot help but feel,

Being an adult is nothing more than an ordeal.

I long for the carefree childhood days of unadulterated fun,

The endless laughter, bantering and responsibilities none.

I wish someone had told me the harsh realities of growing up back then,

If only I could go back in time again.

But alas that can’t be done,

So I’m thinking, why can’t the child and adult in me, both live as one?

When life gets tough, the inner child can be set free,

To worry less, laugh more, to remind myself it’s ok to just let things be.

Instead, why not smile at everyone, giggle without a reason, chase the butterfly,

Be funny, be silly, count the stars in the sky.

Let my inner child take over to walk away from the stress,

To find joy in the little things and seek happiness in a myriad ways!!

Fleeting life….

Life is so truly unpredictable,

One moment you’re planning things,

Engulfed in life’s hustle and bustle,

The next, you’re flying upto heaven with angel wings.

It’s true, we come alone and go alone.

Yet we totally forget this stark truth,

And chase money, luxury and the throne,

When all we need is for the boat of life to sail smooth.

The wealth we earn isn’t ours to take,

We go empty handed when we leave,

All that matters are the good deeds we do, the friends we make,

And all the bonds, connections and relationships we weave.

What really counts is all the hearts we touched,

The wrongdoers we forgave, the ones we selflessly helped,

The people we loved, the ones with whom we laughed,

The challenges we overcame and the gamut of emotions we felt.

So remember this my friend,

‘A good life means acquiring riches’ is a complete fallacy,

Coz ultimately, at the very end,

The love we give and the memories we create and leave behind, is our true legacy. πŸ’–πŸ’–

This poem is in fond memory of my uncle who passed away a few days back. Losing him was definitely tragic, but more than that, it was completely unexpected and caught us all by surprise. And such events really compel one to take a step back and think hard. And realise how truly unpredictable life is. One moment you’re here and the next moment You’re gone. The huge turnout at his funeral was a testament to the man he was and the love people had for him. And it made me realise that a well lived life is truly all about love, kindness and empathy. What do you think? Do share your thoughts. Much love to all of you. πŸ’—πŸ’—

The View From the Top

There’s something about this view,

That always leaves me spellbound,

Every angle, every direction I look, there’s something new,

I wish I could explore more, if only I was not strapped and chair bound.

I keep trying to see things in these clouds,

Any shapes and figures my mind can conjure,

Seems ethereal, like a mystical mystery it shrouds,

That makes me look out in amazement and ponder.

The soft, fleecy clouds floating about,

To my inner child’s imagination, could be a million scoops of icecream,

Or sometimes, my devout heart can see God’s divine rays peeking out.

Other times, my logical mind can only marvel at the Creator’s scientific genius, while the poet in me can simply stare and dream.

Myriad thoughts, endless emotions,

Gives a chance for me and the infinity to converse.

Every time I am flying through the clouds, I feel like I am entranced with some magic potion,

Coz I am always left in awe of the magnificence and humbled by magnanimity of the universe.

I have been fortunate to fly many times in my life. Yet the view from the top never ceases to amaze me. β›…β˜οΈβ€οΈ The pristine white clouds floating by, maintaining perfect balance, stretching as far as my eyes can see till the horizon, always casts a spell on me. And unless it’s a very early morning flight (in which case I am probably sleeping even before takeoff πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚), I am always looking out, soaking in the beauty of the sky, lost in a plethora of thoughts and sometimes remembering to capture some pictures that can help in day dreaming when I am back to mundane life on land..what are your thoughts when you’re flying? What do you think about? Please tell me in the comments. You know it wouldn’t hurt to know there are a few crazies out there just like me πŸ˜ŠπŸ’Ÿ

M.I.S.T.A.K.E.S

They say mistakes make us humans,

Makes us realise no man, no plan is perfect,

It smashes the superiority, breaks all supremacist delusions.

Makes us start from scratch, inspect, introspect and to a new plan deflect.

They say we learn from our mistakes,

But what if mistakes become the norm,

Do we have what it takes,

To look within, learn the lesson and transform?

They say mistakes make a man stronger.

The lower he falls, the higher he can rise,

Repeatedly being knocked down builds determination to fight longer,

It makes him patient, but does it make him wise?

They say mistakes make a man perfect.

Each mistake becomes a life lesson, a stepping stone to do things right,

Gives the opportunity to reassess and plan a course correct,

To put up a good fight to avoid past blunders and remain morally upright.

They say how we correct our mistakes truly define who we are,

Our resilience and tenacity after every mistake shows our true character,

The greatest lessons don’t come from a saint or a preacher.

It is our mistakes, that is infact the best TEACHER.

Little things πŸ’πŸŒ§οΈβ˜˜οΈπŸ°πŸ–οΈπŸ’—

To know you’re alive by feeling the blood flow through the vein,

To dance in the rain,

To help irrespective of loss or gain,

To smile through the pain

Life is indeed about the little things.

Magical rains🌧️πŸ₯°

To have little, yet be happy to share,

To sing without a care,

To have sand at my feet and wind in my hair,

To breathe the cool, fresh, brisk air,

Life is indeed about the little things.

Soak up the vitamin-sea β€οΈπŸ–οΈ

To see a flower bloom,

To smell the fragrance of my favourite perfume,

To connect with friends via zoom,

To wear my mother’s earrings which is my favourite heirloom,

Life is indeed about the little things.

Appreciate, Enjoy, Smile

To gaze at the clear blue sky,

To enjoy guilt free all the fudge and pie,

To watch a sad film and cry,

To enjoy the banter and goofing around with my guy,

Life is indeed about the little things.

Happiness indeed..nom nomπŸ˜‹

To spend time gardening,

To feel at peace while moon gazing,

To know about the world through reading,

To pour my heart out through writing,

Life is indeed about the little things.

Be silly….with family 😁

To spending quality time with family,

To laugh wholeheartedly,

To always offer help readily,

To be content with little and live happily,

Life is indeed about the little things.

Overthinking doesn’t yield results,just a decoy,

To take away peace of mind and let the bigger worries of the unpredictable future burden and annoy,

Coz ultimately, it’s the little things that bring the greatest joy.

So, sit back, breathe easy, savour these little things and learn to enjoy. 😊πŸ₯°

La Magnifique Sunset πŸŒ‡πŸ’–

The other day, I stumbled upon the most beautiful sunset I have seen in a while.

One that caught me by surprise and made me break into a smile.

So many shades, like a painter’s canvas,

Or a writer’s cathartic poetic stanza.

Just stood there soaking in the beauty with a fixed gaze,

Nature’s magnanimity and magnificence never fails to amaze.

Left me with the profound realization,

Just like every sunset promises a new dawn,

In the same way, the bad times eventually gives way to the good ones.

Which ushers in promises of new hope, some laughter and even some dance.

So, no matter how awful was the day,

Keep some faith in Mother nature’s mysterious ways,

When you least expect, she will send the most beautiful surprise your way.

One that will momentarily make you forget your worries and take all your stress away. πŸ’—πŸ’—

Let’s buck up and heal the worldπŸŒ³πŸŒπŸ’šπŸŒ±

For decades, Man has caused massive destruction of nature,

Too ignorant to realize this will lead to his own doom, he is so darn immature.

Cut trees, destroyed forests, replaced them with concrete jungles.

Disregarded Nature’s disapprovals, begs, pleas and grumbles.

Man poached endangered animal species, selling to the rich who pay,

Only to put them up as trophies for shameful display.

Man set up factories emitting toxic gases, polluting the air.

Making the birds breathless and innocent fellow humans sick beyond repair.

Sometimes I wonder where the quarrel of sparrows went,

Are they living far away in the woods or are they dead?

When we set out for advancements in communication and technology, did we really assess what it meant,

For the plants, the animals, the diverse ecosystems and the environment?

For years, Mother nature has been tolerating Man’s idiocracy and greed.

Time to wake up and pay heed,

Let’s pull up our socks and get to action.

And help heal mother nature without any distraction.

Let’s plant more trees, burn less fossil fuel and pollute the air and seas less.

And hopefully we can survive few more centuries with god’s grace.

This poem was written to commemorate World Environment Day, which is the biggest awareness campaign launched by the United Nations in the early 70s which is celebrated across the world on June 5 every year to cherish the nature that’s around us. The theme for this year’s World Environment Day is ‘Ecosystem Restoration.’ This year will also mark the formal launch of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration 2021-2030.

How do I perceive HOPE?

So how do I perceive hope?
That life will be smooth sailing? Nope.
That life will be like a cactus with thorns,
We have to take them out one at a time, while life scorns.
Yet we must strive,
To overcome the adversities and thrive.

When we overcome one challenge,
And start to recover from the damage,
Bam comes another one,
Bigger, tougher, mightier.
Nowhere to hide. Just run.

Run not away, but towards the obstacle,
Fight it, beat it and skillfully tackle.
Till nothing much remains of it,
You emerge victorious while it hangs its head in defeat.

No time to get complacent or to rest,
Round the corner awaits the next test.
We must be bold, brave and courageous,
And be prepared to face it head-on, no matter how dangerous.

So How do I perceive hope?
Like hanging onto a thinning rope,
Moving through all of life’s adversities,
Cutting through endless hardships and difficulties.
With the belief that the rope won’t give away,
And that, life at the other end of the rope shall be easy one day.

Cloudy.

It’s a cloudy day today,
And so is my mood.
Some things don’t feel right,
While others still feel good.

It’s just one of those days when I sulk and brood,
If you rub me the wrong way I can even be rude,
I feel like hiding under my hood,
Today, just today, just stop messing with me dude.

Reflecting on the things I have to do and the things I should,
Realize nothing much of that will happen, if to meetings and deadlines I remain glued,
If only the fretting and overthinking stopped, if only it could,
I know that would help a great deal in getting me out of the woods.

I need a generous dose of happiness,
To feel better, to uplift my grumpy mood,
Can chocolate do the magic? Hell it sure could.
Suddenly I hear it…a faint thunder roll in the distance…and a few precious raindrops on the window pane,
And I know for sure..God has rewarded me with an instant feel good. πŸ™‚πŸŒ§οΈβ›ˆοΈ

New year resolutions for 2021…

The new year had a rocky start,

Ex bestie decides to make a comeback,

But over the years we have grown apart,

So in a reconciliation, total interest I lack.

Putting it behind me, I decide to move ahead,

Not too late for some new year resolutions,

So I make a list of things to cut down on, starting with bread.

Add a point to clear my head and deal with all the confusions.

This year I vow to be punctual,
Be more disciplined, follow a strict routine..

Early to bed, early to rise shall be my daily ritual.

Try to eat less sugar and definitely cut down on caffeine.

I resolve to go on a healthy diet and lose some weight,

Do yoga, exercise or atleast a brisk walk everyday,

Will indulge in more of self love and less of hate,

To feel bright and positive in every way.

Will do better time management,

To maintain a healthy work life balance,

Stand my ground against bossy temperament,

And not get frustrated and suffer in silence.

I will strive to blog more, read more,

To stir up more storms in the kitchen…

To pursue new hobbies after completing daily chores,

No matter what comes my way, I will maintain calm and become more zen.

These are some of the promises I make to myself this year,

Let’s see how much I accomplish.

Will try to live healthy, be happy and live without fear.

For 2021, that’s really my only wish.

Life in the times of Corona…

Gone are the days when we could be happy and free,

Now home quarantined is all we can be,

Applying sanitizer, wearing face mask,

This is now the most important task.

Life was once so busy, commuting to work, all the traffic,

Now they seem like sweet memories, which once felt truly horrific.

Weekends were for socializing, to go out to wine and dine,

Now all days feel the same, sitting in front of the laptop pretending to be Miss sunshine.

But am not complaining,

Probably just reminiscing,

How different our lives used to be,

And how much it has changed, for our safety I agree.

But we must still be grateful,

For being healthy than sick is far more beautiful.

Thankful that we still have family and friends,

Whom we shall soon meet, once this pandemic ends.

Here’s hoping that day comes soon,

When we remember this time as a boon.

Until then, hang in there with some patience,

With the belief that our old normal will soon commence.

β€œI don’t think of all the misery, but of the beauty that still remains.” – Anne Frank

Friendship

Friends and friendships are of many types.
Some you meet later in life, some early, while in school,
Of them, some are sweet, some caring, most are fools, and only a few cool,
Social media ones? They are mostly fake and just plain hype.

School friends are like sunshine bright,
They don’t judge, they don’t tease,
With them you can share your darkest secrets with ease.
So even if you have just one of them, hold them tight.

School friends – If you have friends who are as weird as you, then you have everything….

College friends are witness to your metamorphosis- from the shy geek to the confident rockstar,
Ragging, bullying, crush, kiss- they have been witness to all your firsts,
Spending together countless sleepless nights studying, partying and gulping beer to quench thirst.
So whenever you miss them, just meet up and hit the bar.

College Friendship must be built on a solid foundation of alcohol, sarcasm, inappropriateness and shenanigans. …

Work friends are the newest ones,
At first, it’s a struggle to filter out the crowd to find a good one in the muddy pond,
Bitching about bosses during breaks builds the strongest bond,
Fun, frolic and banter continues until the ‘most discussed one’ returns..

Work friends- Chance made us colleagues but the fun we had made us friends..

And then there are some bonuses,
Meet a random person when you least expect,
Get talking and immediately you sense a heartfelt connect,
Who cares if you just met in the park or in one of the cafΓ©s….

Happiness is when you make unexpected, new friends…

So, no matter when, no matter how…
If you’re lucky to find a true friend, never let them go..
Even if you have a fight and behave like a foe,
It’s never too late. Just pick up the phone, say sorry and start over…. NOW !!

Dedicated to all my friends…old and new…to the ones still in my life…just wanna say ‘I love you’..to the ones I left far behind…I hope we get a chance to start over. 😊

Raindrops…

Raindrops keep falling on my head,
Like little drops of heaven..
No need to run to the nearby shed,
Just get drenched and soak it all in..

When it rains, the plants smile,
The animals rejoice..
The little streams picks up speed to cover an extra mile,
Through the thunders, you can almost hear the Almighty’s voice.

He knows how badly the Earth needs this shower to heal and replenish,
It’s his way of showing who is in control,
Although, HE lets Man think otherwise so that the fool can flourish,
Oblivious to the power play, enjoying the rain, fulfills my soul. πŸ’“πŸŒ§οΈβ˜”

Break Free…

As children we all used to be
So happy and gay,
Innocent, chirpy and all kinds of naughty
Our future troubles seemed to be so far far away…

As we started growing up,
Life got more and more complicated..
As troubles arrived, we had to buckle up,
Innocence gone and simplicity hated…

Life became all about appearance,
Capturing perfect pictures rather than making memories that last…
Likes, comments, shares and all such millenial nuisance,
It was all about being popular and how fast…

Took a while to realize what’s wrong,
Life is about making yourself happy…
Dancing in the rain, singing your favourite song,
To pause, take a long breath and just BE…

So let the world’s opinion of you blur in the background,
Make yourself your first priority…
Those who love you will always stick around,
So take off the worldly shackles and just BREAK FREE…
